2024 Dates to be announced
Every once in a great while, an improvement is made that is so great, that it seems to break the new product away from what preceded it. Some might give an example of the iPhone. For me it is Ciabatta bread. It's not just a better kind of bread. It is a totally new food that somehow escaped directly from heaven to Spencer.
In the plant world such a breakaway happens every once in a while. I can probably count the ones in my lifetime on one hand. Wave petunias are one! Waves shouldn't even be called petunias. They are so dramatically different that they should be just called Waves! Yes they are a petunia. But they are a petunia as a Lamborghini is a 'car'.
Waves can easily grow up to three feet across. They flower all summer with little or no need to have the spent flowers plucked off (YESSS!!) We grow our Waves in a Jumbo six pack as pictured. Each of the six plants is roughly equivalent to a four inch pot. The regular price on Wave Jumbo six packs is $22.99, but until May 14, 2023 they are only $19.99
We grow them right here on the farm. We use no chemical pesticides on them. We also use no chemical growth regulators on them. Growth regulators are used by large growers to be sure that the plants will fit on the shipping racks specified by the box stores. Growth regulators aren't necessarily bad, but on Wave Petunias that have had growth regulator sprayed on them, we have seen them not hardly grow at all, all season. Ours on the other hand are ready to explode into growth as soon as you plant them. We try our best to keep all the colors in stock on the retail benches. If you don't see the color you are looking for, please ask.
There is always a but. And in this case the 'but' is that they NEED to be fertilized. If you want a teenage boy to do well playing on his high school football team, you need to feed him. My own nephew could eat two large pizzas in a sitting as I recall. Because wave petunias put on so much growth and flowering, it's best to think of them as a teenage boy. Always Hungry! Tina's Pixie Dust fertilizer is what we use to grow them. And what we recommend that you use keep using to keep them growing.
