Thanks for playing along with our April Fools edition

We enjoy a good joke as much as anyone. And is gardening can't be fun, why bother? Below are a few classics from the past.
Marshmallow Farmers Off to a Rough Start
Marshmallows are not a crop that gets a lot of attention here in New England. However with the increasing awareness of where our food comes from, I thought this was appropriate. Orchardists of all types have challenges. Massachusetts peach growers last year suffered 100% crop loss. Lets hope that the marshmallow farmers have a sweet and fluffy year after all!

This year we had hoped to go 'Plastic Free' from the plastic eggs that we have in the past. We are working hard to reduce as much plastic as we can. While the plastic eggs are reusable, we still try. We had contracted with a local rabbit farm for 8,000 natural Easter Bunny eggs. We were excited about this change. Unfortunately we have had to change those plans due to a quirk in Massachusetts regulations. While child labor laws are essential for any civilized country, apparently in Massachusetts, child labor laws have failed to take into account the life expectancy of different species. We all know a "dog year" is equal to about 7 human years. Well a "bunny year" is roughly equal to 10 human years. Bunnies peak egg production years are between 1.8 and 3 years (20-30 in human years). When the Massachusetts Child Labor laws were updated, the "Species Differential" (MGL Chap 56 Sec B) was omitted. Inspectors have interpreted this as a prohibition for the commercial sale of bunny eggs in the Commonwealth. They can still be used for home use however.
