| |
Please Note: These classes are from a
previous time. We leave them up for reference purposes only.
Imagine entering a beautiful greenhouse, the air heavily
scented with freshly-cut evergreen boughs. Holiday music drifts down from
above. Tables overflow with vibrant greens, red berries, colorful twigs, cones
and pods amid rows of bright ribbons. Everything is ready and waiting for you
to craft these elements into the beautiful decorations that will make your house
a home.
You deserve a little time for yourself, so if you can carve
out some time from your busy schedule, we’ll do all the rest - gather all the
materials, and even clean up afterward! All you have to do is come have some
fun.
We have put together a little slide show to give you a
chance to see what happens if you have never been to a workshop, or to maybe
catch yourself having fun if you have been. It works best with cable or DSL
connections but will work with dialup if you are patient.
It is about 3 1/2 minutes long.
Prices for classes include all materials and
instruction.
See our Circle of Friends
page to find out about having a private workshop for a group of friends or
coworkers.

Wed. Nov. 12
10 am or 7 pm |
Classic Spiral
$29 |
Learn the art form of creating topiary
shrubs when you prune a 3 foot dwarf Alberta spruce. This living shrub
can go on your doorstep for now, and later planted out in your yard.
This is the only time you
will ever see this class at this fantastic price. We took
advantage of a closeout special from one of our local growers.
Normally this class is $45 in the spring, so if you are even thinking
about it, do not delay. This is a once-in-a-lifetime price!
Ed will be teaching class
this day, so you can ask him all kinds of questions about pruning other
shrubs, too. |
 |
Fri. Nov. 14
10 am or 7 pm |
Season’s Greenings
$29 |
Can’t bear
leaving the growing season behind? Then create this “container garden”
with cut greens for “fillers & chillers.” Curly willow & yellow twig
dogwood are” thrillers” with white pine “spillers.” Perfect for a
doorstep, patio, or can even be used as a remembrance piece. |
 |
Sun. Nov. 16 4 pm |
Indoor Fairy Garden
$29 |
Have you been hearing pinging coming from your windows in the middle of
the night? Perhaps it’s your garden fairies trying to get in to stay
warm. They might not be able to afford “fairy home heating oil” this
winter, and they’ve been trying to get your attention. Consider lending
them a helping hand by creating a winter paradise just for them. Don’t
forget to crack a window open one warm night so they can migrate in
before their wings freeze! |
 |
Tue. Nov. 18
7 pm |
Flower of the Month
$39 |
A
plant-lovers dream: Plant a mini-cyclamen in an ivy ring to enjoy in
November, nestle a cluster of paper whites in pebbles to bloom in
December, pot an amaryllis to flower in January, & force daffodils to
bloom in February.
Where
else can you make 4 projects for under $10 a piece? Our amaryllis
bulbs are the biggest size that can be bought. They often bloom
not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES in January.
We will
cold-treat your pot of daffodils here at the nursery for you to pick up
in February. (They need 14 weeks of cold before they can bloom
inside your home.) The pick-up date is Saturday, February 14th, so
you can treat yourself on Valentine's Day!

Table Runner
$29 |
This S-shaped swag is chock full of
fresh fruit, moss, cones and berries, and will steal the show on your
Thanksgiving table. Hints on how to refresh it for December.
There has been a sample on
display here at the nursery for the past 3 weeks, and everyone who comes
in has admired it. It's hard to see in the picture, but it is
about 3 feet long, and will gracefully curve about the middle of your
Thanksgiving table. You can place a few harvest-colored candles in
the middle, too.

Succulent Centerpiece
$29 |
Season-long
living wreath! Four autumn candles make this a harvest celebration
wreath. Switch to pink & lavender candles if you chose to light an
advent wreath, and replace with red candles for a classic holiday
centerpiece.
This is Tina's absolute
favorite class this year. For those of you who made a succulent
tree this fall, this is the perfect compliment.
The sedum and hens 'n chicks
are true perennials, so if you put this in a bright place after the
winter holidays, you can keep it alive until next spring, when you can
hang it outside. You can take cuttings off of it to plant in your
own garden for a living reminder of Christmas 2008. |
